Top 10 moments from Xross Challenge 2017

31/12/2017

We are saying goodbye to this year with some great plans for 2018 in which we are going to organize Xross Challenge race for the fifth time. At the end of this year we decided to choose 10 photos that captured the moments that best describe the sport we love – Hard Enduro, but also they represent Xross Challenge race in the best possible way.

1.  Tara mountain can be ruthless, but help is always there when you need it

Years back, uphills at Xross Challenge are giving a headache to the riders. Mousetrap is infamous uphill where even the best riders need help to get to the top. Luckily, there are always guys ready to help riders.

2. Peace of haven

Beside hard obstacles, we would say that Tara mountain will take your breath away with its beautiful nature. When you see this beautiful scenery, you forget about the hard parts of the race which are like hell and you finally get the chance to ride through the haven.

3. Mision impossible

Wise people say that we sometimes need to change the angle from which we are looking at the world. We would say that at Xross Challenge riders get a chance to see the world from the most unusual, almost impossible angles.

4. Have fun on the track and off the track

Hard Enduro races are an excellent way to test your abilities and endurance, but it’s also a great opportunity to socialize with those who share the same passion for this sport. At the Xross Challenge, we have a good time on the track and of the track as well. No lack of smiles.

5. How do you mean I can’t ride a bike through water?

Some people say that bikes can’t go through water, every Hard Enduro riders disagree. Here’s the proof.

6. Don’t give up, this is Hard Enduro!

In the picture, you see rider Kevin Gallas, who had a bad luck on the second day of the race – but in spite of that, he manages to get to the finish line. First, Kevin got lost in the woods, then he was left without a fuel. And on top of that, he fell into the stream and his bike sank. He pulled out his bike from the water, manage to start him and finished the race. The smile on his face and excitement with which he told us everything that had happened to him portray the true spirit of Hard Enduro.

7. When dirtbike is out of control

Uphills, again! We mentioned Mousetrap before, here’s why is called like that. The surface on this uphill is so loose, that riders have to go full gas in order to get to the top. Oftenly, the bike is out of control and fly over the rider or fall on him.

8. Focus on the ride

It seemed, that no matter what Tara puts in front of the riders, Philipp Bertl has a solution for that – so it is not surprising that he was crowned Xross Challenge champion two times in a row. When we asked him about the “formula of success” he told us: “The key to everything is a balance, especially when you have a race day after day and when you are on a motorcycle for several hours, you have to find a way to rest your body while riding. It’s not easy, but when I find my moment, I am just trying not to get lost and I am 100 percent focused on my ride.”

9. Accept the challenge!

The best thing about Hard Enduro is that this sport tests the endurance of the riders and their dirtbikes to the limits. But it is not enough to be just a strong and technically good rider, you need to know how to read the forest, the mountain – the nature.
